Exterior Restoration Complete!

After completion of the exterior restoration, removing hazardous materials and installing underground utilities, BVH Architects are now working on plans for the interior restoration, which will begin in early 2023.

Dr. Susan on Jeopardy

Earlier this spring, Dr. Susan was featured as a $200 question on this popular game show. See the question here.

Thank you to all our generous donors!

In 2022, the Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center raised sufficient funds to begin the interior construction. Construction will begin in the first half of 2023 and be completed by the end of the year.

Your continued support will enable the Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center to complete the final phases of the restoration project and purchase Dr. Susan's house. The Center is also exploring the acquisition of land to the east of the property, which will allow for an increased amount of space for outdoor features. We are so grateful for the incredible generosity of our donors and to all who have contributed their faith and encouragement to this endeavor.

Honoring Her Legacy Through Film

A new Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte documentary film was shared with students and the community at the Mary Riepma Ross Theater in Lincoln. Executive Producer Judi gaiashkibos, Producer Ingrid Holmquist, and the entire team did an excellent job bringing the story of Dr. Susan to the big screen.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration

We celebrated Indigenous Peoples' Day this year at Joslyn Castle and Gardens in Omaha. The White Eagle Club Dancers and The Whitetail Boyz performed, corn soup and fry bread was served, and we updated the community on the restoration project.

80th Celebration of Nebraska State Historical Society

The Picotte Board of Directors secretary, Nancy Gillis, shared about our impactful restoration efforts on September 25th at the celebration event. Many of our Board members attended in support.

Our dedication is strong. Our goals are steadfast.

We’ve made great strides this year. We continue to prioritize high-quality restoration and fact-driven education. We listen to Indigenous voices and learn from history. Our efforts in sharing the story of Dr. Susan are expanding greatly, and we are thrilled about the opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you for being a vital part of this work. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
