What’s on the outside – Seeing Plans become reality.

There’s nothing more inspiring than seeing the difference that your support makes. Combined with the good weather, crews have been hard at work restoring the exterior of the Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center. As the recent pictures show, Phase II exterior restoration is nearing completion, with siding and stucco painted, windows restored and replaced, screens in arches installed, and porch stairs replaced.

Stucco has been repaired and will be painted. The front door to the porch is ready to be installed.

In the back, the blank door will lead to a future deck with stairs to the grounds. The site is to be seeded by Kinghorn Gardens late May, early June.

Believed to have been planted by Dr. Picotte, the lilac bushes were pruned by Kinghorn Gardens in early spring to renew the shrubs and encourage strong healthy growth.   Work will soon turn to the interior restoration, with a fundraising campaign planned for launch in the coming months to raise the necessary funds.
